Dotara-Type Folk Lute String Instrument is a long-necked plucked folk lute with a small rounded wooden body, a skin or hide sound table, and a carved wooden neck and peghead. It has four side-mounted tuning pegs, a raised bridge and a rustic handmade-style construction, with three remaining strings.
Visible wear includes scratches, scuffs, dirt and discolouration to the skin soundboard, finish wear to the wood, and aged hardware and strings. Dotara-type instruments are associated with South Asian folk music, but the exact regional origin and current playability of this example are not confirmed.
