Mrs. Potts No. 2 Cast Iron Sad Iron Base is a solid cast-iron piece with a pointed nose, flat base, arched top and a top opening for a detachable handle fitting. Raised cast text reads "MRS. POTTS" with an embossed number "2" on the top.
The surface shows rust, oxidation, scuffs and general wear with age-related roughness, and the detachable handle is missing. Sad irons of this form were used for laundry pressing and are commonly collected as domestic utility objects.
